MyBUKAS Donation Drive: MyTown’s Successful Community Effort to Support Typhoon Victims

In a remarkable display of community solidarity and compassion, MyTown Co-living successfully completed its MyBUKAS Donation Drive, providing crucial support to those affected by Typhoon Carina. This devastating typhoon left several parts of the Philippines flooded, prompting MyTown to take immediate action by partnering with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to deliver aid to those in need. The initiative, which ran from July 26 to August 1, 2024, saw MyTown’s network of 11 properties come together to collect and distribute essential goods to disaster-stricken areas.

Community-Driven Relief

The MyBUKAS Donation Drive, part of MyTown’s broader commitment to social responsibility, mobilized tenants and staff across all MyTown locations to gather donations for typhoon relief. The campaign culminated in the delivery of aid to two prominent organizations: Tanging Yaman Foundation, Inc (TYFI) and Angat Buhay at Ateneo De Manila University on July 30 and August 1.

“We initiated the MyBUKAS Donation Drive to extend our support to those severely impacted by Typhoon Carina,” said Charish Aiza Terrano, Community and Partnerships Specialist at MyTown Co-living. “The overwhelming response from our tenants and staff exemplifies the strength and compassion of our community. Together, we’ve made a significant impact in providing relief to those in dire need.”

Strategic Collection Points and Generous Donations

To facilitate the donation process, MyTown set up ten donation boxes across five of its properties: MyTown Los Angeles, Amsterdam, New York, Auckland, and Kyoto, with two boxes at each location. These collection points were strategically chosen to maximize the accessibility for donors. Over the six-day donation drive, tenants, and staff contributed a variety of essential items, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to helping those in need.

On July 29, the drive received a substantial boost from The Master’s Lighthouse Foundation, which donated water, food essentials, and hygiene items. This generous contribution significantly bolstered the overall collection, enabling MyTown to provide even more comprehensive aid to the affected communities.

A Coordinated Effort for Relief

The success of the MyBUKAS Donation Drive was a result of meticulous planning and dedicated teamwork. Philippines Urban Living Solutions, Inc. (PULS) employees and MyTown tenants, affectionately known as “Townees,” played a crucial role in sorting and packing the donations. Volunteers from the Leasing Team and Front Office Team joined forces on July 31 to ensure that the donations were organized and ready for distribution.

“Our community’s collective effort in sorting, packing, and delivering the donations was truly inspiring,” Charish added. “It showcased the spirit of unity and compassion that defines MyTown Co-living.”

Impactful Partnerships

MyTown partnered with Tanging Yaman Foundation, Inc. (TYFI) and Angat Buhay at Ateneo De Manila University to ensure that the donations reached those in greatest need. TYFI, known for its impactful work in disaster relief and community support, received the first batch of donations on July 30. Angat Buhay continued the distribution of aid with the second batch delivered on August 1, extending the reach of MyTown’s relief efforts.

I am incredibly proud of our Townees and employees for their dedication and generosity.”
